Reconstruction following breast cancer treatment is a personal choice everyone has to make for themselves. Some women forego reconstruction completely. After mastectomy, this is known as “going flat” or my personal favorite, “flat and fabulous”. If choosing reconstruction after lumpectomy or mastectomy, choices include lipofilling, implants, flaps, or a combination of these.
Lipofilling is a technique where fat from another part of your body is used to fill in dents or distortions in the breast. Lipofilling is used in more than just breast reconstruction. A good source of information can be found here.
